Injury update on Dale duo

Image: Wiseman: Getting there slowly

Rochdale have received mixed injury news as defenders Scott Wiseman and Joe Widdowson bid to return to action.

Wiseman has been sidelined since the beginning of September with a stomach muscle problem he sustained against Southampton. Rochdale physio Andy Thorpe said: "We are doing quite a bit of work with Scott at the minute but sadly his progress is slow because we keep getting reactions. We've done some functional work, movement and straight running and he is improving but it is slow. "Scott has had a scan and that has come back clear and we believe it's a lower abdominal muscle strain. We put Scott through his paces at the gym on Monday morning and I would say he's around 80% fit at this stage but he'll be out for a few weeks yet." However, there is better news for Widdowson who has missed the last two games with a knee injury but could now be fit for the weekend. Thorpe added: "We will look on Tuesday to see what reaction the knee has to the work we have done and if the signs are good then we are very hopeful for Saturday."
