Dagenham and Redbridge have named Wayne Burnett as permanent manager following their escape from relegation.

Burnett succeeded John Still on a temporary basis in February and secured League Two status for another season despite winning just two of 12 remaining games.

The 41-year-old has been given a full-time contract until 2015, and chairman Dave Andrews has backed Dagenham to hit the ground running next term.

He told the club's official website: "I am really excited about the appointment of Wayne Burnett.

"The board of directors were fully committed to offering Wayne a two-year contract despite the mixed results since he took over in February.

"I feel that now Wayne can prepare for the new season and stamp his own mark fully on the team. We can now look forward to a bright start to a new season."
