Paul Sturrock: His top-of-the-table Southend side host Crewe

League Two leaders Southend host Crewe on Saturday, while Cheltenham take on Dagenham & Redbridge in a top-versus-bottom-clash.

It's tight at both ends of the table, with just two points covering the top six, while only goal difference separates the bottom three.

Paul Sturrock's Southend sit top of the pile on goal difference following Monday's win at Gillingham and next up for the Shrimpers is a home tie with Crewe.

But it will not be easy against the in-form Railwaymen, who have won four out of their last five games, including a 3-2 success over Burton last time out, to move up to 12th.

Second-placed Cheltenham travel to second-from-bottom Dagenham & Redbridge with both sides looking to bounce back from defeats.

In-form

Third-placed Torquay are the in-form side in the division, having won seven on the bounce, the latest a 1-0 win over the Robins.

Martin Ling's men next take on 20th-placed Bradford, who are aiming to end a run of five games without a win.

Fourth-placed Swindon are just one point off the top three - with two games in hand - after six wins in a row, the latest a comprehensive 3-0 victory over fellow promotion rivals Crawley.

Paulo Di Canio's side now travel to 21st-placed Hereford, who also need a victory after failing to win in their last four games to hover just three points above the drop zone.

Sixth-placed Shrewsbury could also go top on Saturday if results elsewhere go their way but Graham Turner's side face a tough trip to in-form Barnet, who are unbeaten in five to pull away from the drop zone.

Unbeaten-in-three Oxford, who occupy the last play-off berth, travel to mid-table Bristol Rovers, who are looking to bounce back from a 1-0 loss at Shrewsbury last time.

Confident

Eighth-placed Rotherham sit just three points off the play-offs following two wins on the bounce and the Millers will be confident against out-of-form Burton, who have not won in seven league attempts to drop to 11th in the table.

Accrington dropped to ninth after losing to the Millers last time and Stanley next take on third-from-bottom Plymouth, who have drawn their last two to climb out of the relegation zone.

Port Vale are up to 10th after a three-match unbeaten run - the latest a draw at Bradford in midweek - and Micky Adams' side next face out-of-form Gillingham, who have lost their last four games to drop to 13th, one point behind the Valiants.

Macclesfield take on Aldershot in a clash of sides in contrasting form - the Silkmen have lost their last six league games to drop to 19th, while the Shots have won two on the bounce to climb to 17th.

AFC Wimbledon host Morecambe looking to bounce back from a defeat at bottom club Northampton, while the Shrimps will be aiming to build on a victory over Macclesfield to keep their play-off hopes alive.
