Dagenham boss John Still refused to be downbeat after his side slipped to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of leaders Morecambe.
Goals from Danny Carlton and Stewart Drummond extended the Shrimps' unbeaten run to eight league games, although they were made to sweat as the home side staged a late revival after Oliver Lee's 73rd-minute goal brought them back into the game.
Still felt his side showed a great improvement on recent performances, saying: "We were not under any real pressure but they scored twice in quick succession and that was disappointing. The first goal was a really bad one to give away and the second one came from a mistake from our keeper which was unfortunate because he had a good game overall.
"But we came back and although I think the goal was a fluke we ended the game in the ascendancy and could have got something from the game.
"It was certainly a better performance and I know that when we have a bit more luck with injuries and other things start going for us we will do okay."
