Williams keen on capital return

Recent Dagenham and Redbridge signing Sam Williams is glad to return home as he aims to help the Daggers' promotion goal.

The striker, born in south-east London, is back in the capital after a lengthy spell in Birmingham with Aston Villa and a couple of years in Somerset with Yeovil, as well as a handful of loan moves along the way. But having penned a deal with the Daggers on Monday, Williams is happily settling back into life where he considers home. "It was a big incentive to move back to where I'm from," the 24-year-old told the club's official website. "I've been away in Birmingham for seven years playing for Aston Villa and then two years at Yeovil so I'm glad to be back where I belong." Regarding his move to Victoria Road, Williams added: "When me and the gaffer (John Still) first had a chat he felt this was the perfect club for me to be at and the perfect place to score goals. "We get the ball forward, direct, and get as many balls into the box as possible, so hopefully that will give me even more of the ball and I'll be able to score goals for the club."
