Howell faces four weeks out

Luke Howell faces around four weeks out with the ankle gash sustained during Lincoln's victory at Morecambe.

The midfielder was on the end of a reckless challenge from Scott Brown on Saturday and, having been carried off on a stretcher, required eight stitches. The injury has ended Howell's loan spell at Lincoln and the 23-year-old has returned to parent club MK Dons to receive treatment. City physio Michael Wait believes the player was lucky to escape serious injury; saying to Lincolnshire Echo: "Luke was quite fortunate because had his foot been planted and not in the air when the challenge came in, then there was the potential he could have broken or snapped something. "He has gone back to MK Dons now, but he will go for an X-ray as well just as a precaution. I would say it will be around three to four weeks before he is training again because even though it is a cut, it is still going to be very sore. "But the positive, if there is a positive to be had, is that it could have been worse."
