Williams begins overhaul of Brisbane Road squad

Leyton Orient manager Geraint Williams has released eight players, including Brian Saah and Alton Thelwell. Home-grown product Saah has not been offered a new contract almost six years after making his first-team debut as a 16-year-old. Former Tottenham defender Thelwell has also failed to secure an extension, along with veteran full-back Danny Granville. Paul Terry and Wayne Gray are also being released by Orient, while Aiden Palmer, Solomon Shields and Bradley Gray have not been offered fresh terms. However, the League One club are in negotiations to keep hold of Sean Thornton, Andrew Cave-Brown and Loick Pires next season. Scott McGleish, who has been on loan from Wycombe Wanderers, has been offered a permanent contract to stay at Brisbane Road. But fellow loanees Jimmy Smith, Jordan Spence, Dean Morgan and Simon Church are all returning to their parent clubs. Morgan had been hoping to be offered a contract by Williams and will become a free agent as his Luton Town deal is due to expire.
