Inverness Caledonian Thistle failed with a Deadline Day move to land non-league star Damian Reeves.
The Altrincham striker was the top-scorer in British football last term with 44-goals.
He has continued in a similar manner this term and has over 20 goals already - and this form attracted the attention of a number of clubs.
Reeves, who was strongly linked with a move to the Football League last term, has a clause in his contract which would allow him to leave for free.
Sky Sports understands Inverness were ready to take advantage of that and give him the chance of moving to the SPL.
However, Reeves opted against the move and instead decided to remain at Moss Lane.
Inverness declined to comment - but Altrincham club secretary Derek Wilshaw told us: "We are not just happy, we are delighted that Damian took the decision to stay."
