Skysports.com understands Premier League side Blackpool have held talks with Ipswich striker Jon Stead.
The 27-year-old frontman is set to leave Ipswich this summer after falling out of favour with manager Roy Keane, and Blackpool have come in with a surprise approach.
Having earned promotion to the top-flight last season following promotion via the Championship play-offs, Seasiders boss Ian Holloway is looking to quickly bolster his squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Blackpool have yet to make a single signing this summer and have just over two weeks until their first competitive match.
Stead may not have a future at Portman Road, but Holloway is considering giving him another shot at Premier League football, after a difficult term at Ipswich last time out.
He does boast top-flight experience, though, having played in the Premier League for Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Sheffield United.
With Billy Clarke set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a serious knee injury, Holloway is keen to get another striker onboard and recently took Francis Jeffers on trial.
Skysports.com recently revealed that Stead turned down a move to Championship side Bristol City, after the Robins agreed a fee thought to be in the region of £200,000 with Ipswich.
