Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock is remaining coy on speculation linking Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis with a January move.

A number of clubs are rumoured to be interested in Gomis, who has spent most of his first season at Swansea on the bench.

Warnock would not specify whether Palace had made a bid for the striker, but says the club have targeted 'one or two players'.

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock admits the club are looking for strikers in the transfer window

“I think we’ve made offers for a number of strikers,” he said. “We are short of attacking options and with Chamakh missing, we’ve lacked that physical presence.

“So we’ve been looking at a couple of players from home and abroad and we’re hoping to get one of those over the line in the next couple of weeks.

“We have some good strikers at the club but we have to be able to adapt and change the system, so we have to try and find a striker that will give us another dimension."

Busy stretch

Palace face a busy period over the next two weeks, and reinforcements could prove vital for Warnock’s side if they are to pick up much needed points.

Starting with Southampton at home on Boxing Day, Warnock’s men face tricky tests away to QPR and Aston Villa, before travelling to Conference outfit Dover in the third round of the FA Cup.

Warnock was keen on bringing in new players when the window opens, but admitted doing business in the January was not always the easiest of tasks.

“We’d like to get business done as quickly as possible,” he said. “You can’t move quickly enough at times because all sorts of things happen so there’s one or two complications.

“The window doesn’t open until the third, but I’d like to get one or two in for the FA Cup, but we are struggling to get anything over the line earlier than that.

“At least we have a week after that before we face Tottenham, where hopefully we can do some business.

“But sometimes you do not get your first choice and you have to keep going.”
