Bolton loanee Joe Mason may be out for as long as two months with a hamstring injury, boss Neil Lennon has revealed.

The Cardiff forward, 23, is on a season-long deal with Wanderers but was absent for Saturday's draw with Ipswich after tearing his hamstring in training on Friday.

Speaking to the club's official website, boss Neil Lennon said: "We'll speak to Cardiff about the situation as it looks like he'll be out for a while.

"At this moment we're looking at between six and eight weeks, so we'll see how things develop and take it from there."

Mason was signed by Lennon's predecessor Dougie Freedman and has scored four goals so far this season, three of them coming in a win over Rotherham at the Macron Stadium in September.

Mason has started just one game under Lennon, who is now short of attacking options after letting Jermaine Beckford join Preston on loan recently.

Max Clayton suffered a knee injury and was taken to hospital over the weekend, while Craig Davies missed the fixture due to a hamstring strain.

It could mean 36-year-old Eidur Gudjohnsen starts Friday's game at Millwall and the club may be keen to offer Emile Heskey a contract too, with the former England forward now training with Lennon's side.
