Ostracised Wigan striker Grant Holt has been allowed to join Huddersfield on a short-term loan after being cast into the wilderness at the DW Stadium.

The former Norwich forward spent the latter part of the previous campaign with Aston Villa and has been playing with Latics' development squad this term.

Uwe Rosler has not called upon Holt for a league game since Boxing Day and the 33-year-old - who signed for Wigan in the summer of 2013 - was in serious danger of seeing his career stagnate.

Speaking on Thursday, Rosler conceded there had been loan enquiries for some of his players but insisted he was under no financial pressure to allow players like Holt to leave on the cheap.

"We have enquiries but either way there are certain players I don't want to go out on loan and certain players clubs are asking for too much financial contribution from us and I think that will make no sense to give such good players away for half the price," he explained.

"At the moment there is an imbalance for what we are looking for, who we want to go out and which players can create interest from other clubs."

Holt scored on his debut in a 4-0 win at Barnsley but he scored just once more for Latics, who replaced Owen Coyle with Rosler in December last year.
