Transfer news: Laurent Blanc happy with Edinson Cavani

Laurent Blanc insists he is very happy to hear Edinson Cavani committing his future to Paris Saint Germain.

Blanc held talks with Cavani at the end of last season, and since then the player has insisted he is staying put despite strong links with a possible move to England.

Cavani had long been reportedly unhappy at playing on the right of PSG's attack, but Blanc insists that is not an issue.

"Our talk will remain between Edinson and I. Don’t try to know what we talked about," Blanc stated.

"He told you [the media] again he feels happy at Paris and it was not all linked with his position on the pitch and that is an answer I like because in football you have to think collectively.

"But it was no surprise from Edinson. Indeed he has a favourite position, but as does any other player. I am only focused on the team being efficient, notably with Edinson and that is clearly possible as we showed last season.

"He is a player with so many qualities that he can not only play centre-forward. He showed it during last WC again.”

Ibrahimovic

Blanc also was angered by reports in the French media that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is almost running the club.

"Saying that Ibrahimovic is the boss of Paris Saint-Germain is offensive to the board and me, as I am the head coach," he blasted.

"He's the boss of the team, yes, but the boss of PSG would mean that he is the guy taking the decisions for everything which is not the case even if, of course, he is important.

"Ibra is a leader in the team. That's not very surprising, he's been a leader in his previous teams as well. He's a technical leader. He's a natural leader within the squad due to his personality and character, but he's not the only one.

"He's an important player within the squad and I am not going to deny it. He's one of the three to four natural leaders within the group."
