Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed that they have pulled away from a deal for Nicklas Bendtner.

The Bundesiga outfit have been interested in Bendtner since last season, and they have been in talks with him since he left Arsenal at the end of the 2013/14 campaign.

But Frankfurt have now admitted defeat in their bid to lure the 26-year-old Denmark international striker to the Commerzbank-Arena.

Frankfurt manager Thomas Schaaf told kicker-Sportmagazin: "It's true, we have made no progress (in those talks with Nicklas Bendtner), that's why we need to focus on different agendas."

Bendtner is believed to be hoping to stay in the Premier League and has been linked with Aston Villa in recent weeks.
