Sky Sports understands Huddersfield are closing in on a deal to bring Lee Peltier back to the club.
Peltier is a free agent after cancelling his contract at Leeds by mutual consent on Monday.
The news has alerted a host of clubs to Peltier's availability, but Huddersfield are thought to be in pole position to land the versatile 27-year-old defender.
Peltier enjoyed a two-year spell at Huddersfield between 2009-11 and established himself as a key player at the John Smith's Stadium before leaving for Leicester in the summer of 2011.
Huddersfield boss Mark Robins is in the market for defensive reinforcements and he is keen to tie up a move for former Liverpool youngster Peltier as he wants to make him their second signing of the summer.
