Transfer news: Swansea City are in talks with Middlesbrough over Marvin Emnes

Swansea City are in talks with Middlesbrough over Marvin Emnes, Sky sources understand.

The former Dutch Under-21 international forward joined Boro from Sparta Rotterdam in 2008, when the club paid over £3million for his signature.

Emnes largely failed to meet expectation levels on Teesside, barring in 2012 when he finished with 14 goals in the Championship under Tony Mowbray.

He has spent two loan spells with Swansea, including finishing last season with the South Wales outfit and now they have returned to conclude a permanent deal.

Swansea are now understood to be looking to pay just over £1million for Emnes, who has rarely featured under current Boro chief Aitor Karanka.
