Bristol City have signed Cardiff goalkeeper Dave Richards on an emergency loan deal which will be made permanent in January.

The 19-year-old will provide cover for Frank Fielding, who missed the midweek defeat to Brentford with a hand injury, and competition for his former Bluebirds team-mate Elliot Parish. Robins goalkeeping coach Lee Kendall has revealed the club tried to sign Richards in time for Tuesday's game but international clearance held the deal up. The shot-stopper is expected to feature regularly for Bristol City's development side. "Competition is important to push each other and keep everyone on top of their game," said Kendall.
