Accrington defender Michael Liddle has penned a new 12-month contract with the League Two club.

The 23-year-old arrived from Sunderland last summer for an undisclosed fee having previously enjoyed a spell on loan at Stanley, racking up a total of 48 appearances to date. "This is such a good club to be at," Liddle said. "It's a brilliant club with brilliant lads and I can see it getting even better this year. We work hard for each other on and off the pitch. I think it's going to be a fun, enjoyable and successful year. "I think once you come here you find it is different to a lot of clubs and you fall in love with it a bit. It's a great place to play your football and I think that's why a lot of lads come back." Liddle becomes the seventh Accrington player so far this summer to sign a new deal after George Miller, Ian Dunbavin, Laurence Wilson, Dean Winnard, James Gray and Will Hatfield.
