Sky Sports understands Fleetwood are closing in on the signing of winger Gareth Evans from fellow League Two side Rotherham.

Evans joined the Millers from Bradford on an initial one-year deal in summer 2011 before extending his stay in March when he triggered an appearance clause in his contract.

The 24-year-old has made 15 appearances for Rotherham this season, scoring two goals.

Fleetwood are understood to be keen on the winger as they look to bolster their attacking options in next month's transfer window.

Evans was reportedly the subject of a bid from a Championship club on the final day of the summer transfer window, which Rotherham rejected.
