M'Baye Niang celebrated his 18th birthday on Wednesday by signing an extension to his contract at AC Milan.

Milan announced the news on Thursday, with the highly-rated forward having committed his future to the Rossoneri until 2017.

Niang has been rewarded with fresh terms just four months after arriving in Italy from Caen.

He is understandably delighted with how things are going, having recently netted his first goal for Milan in the Coppa Italia, and has once again sought to distance himself from transfer rumours - with Everton known to have enquired as to the youngster's availability.

"I am delighted to have agreed to prolong my career with such a great club like Milan," said Niang.

"Everton were interested in me, that pleased me, but my desire was always to stay here and play here.

"It has been a struggle for me. People forget I am only a young player.

"It took a while to convince people of my worth, but I have done that. That is the first test passed and I hope to improve and pass many more."
