Purse understands Argyle stance

Transfer-listed Darren Purse does not want to leave Plymouth, but can understand the thinking behind his expected departure.

The Pilgrims captain has been told he can leave in the January transfer window to free up funds to strengthen Carl Fletcher's League Two strugglers. "The gaffer pulled me in a couple of weeks ago and told me he had to cut the budget," Purse told the Western Morning News. "There is no rocket science about it. You have just got to get on with it. "I don't really want to go but, on the other hand, I've got family that are 200 miles away. It might work out well for both parties if he can clear a little bit of the budget and maybe go and get two or three players in. "I'm disappointed because I do enjoy playing down here but that's football, at the end of the day. You just have to get on with it." Purse's appearance against Exeter on Saturday was his 43rd for Argyle since joining, initially on loan, from Millwall 13 months ago.
