Sampson joins Stanley on loan

Youngster Jack Sampson has joined Accrington on a one-month loan deal from managerless Championship outfit Bolton.

The 19-year-old striker, who enjoyed a spell with Southend last season, is eligible to make his debut for Paul Cook's men at Torquay this weekend and is making no secret of his goalscoring ambitions. "I'm very happy to come to Accrington," said Sampson. "Hopefully I can crack on and start the game on Saturday. I've got a little bit of experience at this level and it took me quite a while to get used to the facilities in League Two but I think that'll help me and I can cope well. "People say loans are to get minutes on the pitch but I want to get goals. I want to try and average a goal a game. There was interest from teams lower down this division but I wanted to come to a club with a winning mentality that wants to do well and win games." Cook added: "We're very thankful to Bolton for letting us have Jack. He's a lad we've trailed for some time now. "He's got experience in this league with Southend, who got into the play-offs last season, and he's a left sided striker with a bit of physical presence about him which is something we've lacked."
