Juventus deny Diakite talk

Juventus general director Beppe Moratta has rejected suggestions the club will try to sign Lazio's Modibo Diakite in the next transfer window.

Italian giants not interested in Lazio defender

Juventus general director Beppe Moratta has rejected suggestions the club will try to sign Lazio centre-back Modibo Diakite in the next transfer window. The 25-year-old Frenchman is in the final year of his contract at Lazio and has been linked with a move to Turin in January. But Moratta insists Diakite is not on Juve's radar, saying: "We are regularly victims of the most outrageous headlines, many of which are obviously incorrect. "For example, Diakite is a Lazio player and he won't be coming to Juventus." Reports in the Italian media on Thursday suggested Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente remains Juventus' top target but Moratta refused to be drawn on the speculation. He said: "We will continue to monitor the most interesting players and in January we will decide whether or not to make a move."

Juventus are also thought to be keeping close tabs on Fiorentina frontman Stevan Jovetic but reports suggest the Viola have included an 'anti-Juve' clause in his contract. Fiorentina recently looked set to sign Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United only for the deal to collapse at the last minute, and they openly blamed Juventus' late show of interest in the Bulgarian for scuppering the deal. On Jovetic, Moratta would only say: "He could be a very useful player for us, but it will be up to Fiorentina to decide his future." Juventus have signed Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner on loan but the Dane is yet to make an appearance for the Serie A giants. Moratta says the frontman has impressed coach Antonio Conte in training, however, adding: "The first judgment of Conte is very positive. "He's young and wants to do well."
