Norwich boss is in the market for a new striker

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has dismissed speculation he is planning to make a late move to sign Michael Owen on a free transfer. Owen is searching for a new club after being released by Manchester United earlier in the summer and confirmed on Sunday that he is hoping to secure a deal before the transfer window closes. The former England striker is keen to remain in the Premier League and Stoke City have already expressed an interest in agreeing a deal. Speculation also linked the Canaries with a move for the 32-year-old, with Hughton in the market for attacking reinforcements after James Vaughan joined Huddersfield Town on loan. However, while Hughton is ready to add the 'right' player to his squad before Friday's deadline, he ruled out a swoop for Owen. "Wow. Not that I am aware of," said Hughton in the Eastern Daily Press in response to the Owen rumours. "It is no surprise because at this stage of the window you get linked with lots of names that are not true. That is very much a new one to me. "It is an area we are looking at to do something but that would have to be the right player."
