Bristol City boss Derek McInnes confirmed the arrival of striker Sam Baldock from West Ham after his side thumped Crystal Palace 4-1 on Tuesday night.
Baldock was in the stands after completing a reported £1million move as his new team-mates demonstrated their own attacking threat.
Ryan Taylor and Martyn Woolford netted inside the opening 12 minutes before a Jon Stead penalty on the hour had City cruising towards a first win of the new Championship season.
Kagisho Dikgacoi volleyed a consolation for Palace on 74 minutes but Albert Adomah wrapped up a comfortable home win with a 20-yard shot on 81 minutes.
Praise
McInnes was left full of praise for his side, who he believes will be boosted further by the arrival of 23-year-old Baldock on a three-year deal.
"I'm so pleased to have signed Sam Baldock because I believe he will add sharpness to our attack and keep opposing centre-backs occupied," said the manager.
"He can link the play, but his best work is done on the move and he is capable of teaming up effectively with different types of strike partners.
"With Steve Davies having signed for us as well this week, we now have a lot more attacking options.
"But the lads who played tonight have done themselves no harm. We showed the same organisation and discipline as when losing narrowly at Forest on Saturday and this time added a cutting edge.
"I couldn't ask for more than four goals in our first home game of the season in the Championship. They were all decent efforts and our fans have gone home happy."
The defeat left Palace bottom of the fledgling table and as one of only two teams without a point.
"There have been a lot of changes at our club during the summer and it will take a while for us to deal with that," said Eagles boss Dougie Freedman.
Errors
"We didn't help ourselves tonight with some poor individual errors that gifted Bristol City some of their goals.
"But we are a young side and learning all the time. We just need a bit of time to develop together and improve as a team.
"You can't afford to make the sort of errors we made in this game, but we will talk about them and hopefully move on quickly because there is a long season ahead.
"It is always going to take a while to gel when you have alot of injuries and new faces to integrate."
