Karl Sheppard will play for Accrington on Saturday in a friendly against Coventry, hoping to impress enough to earn a loan deal.
The striker signed for Reading in January and is a Republic of Ireland Under-21 international.
The 21-year-old, a former Everton trainee, has also previously played for Irish sides Shamrock Rovers and Galway United.
During his time at Shamrock, Sheppard averaged close to a goal every other game and also played in he Europa League group stages.
