Manager Aidy Boothroyd has confirmed that goalkeeper Neal Kitson has parted company with the club ahead of the new season.
The American will now return to his homeland after having his contract terminated for personal reasons.
Kitson kept two clean sheets in the eight first-team appearances he made for the Cobblers last season.
Boothroyd told the club's official website: "Neal is going home.
"He has some family issues that he needs to resolve and so we have terminated his contract to allow him to go back to the United States."
