Brighton boss pleased with team's display in pre-season game

Gus Poyet wants two more players ahead of the Championship season to give Brighton & Hove Albion that competitive edge. The Seagulls have just returned from Spain where they held their pre-season training camp. After working at close quarters with his players, the former Uruguay international believes his squad require a striker and midfielder if they are to challenge for promotion this year.

Adapt

"We need two extra players for sure," said Poyet. "We need to make sure those two are coming - and when - so they can adapt and understand how we play. It is about timing." Cordoba were Brighton's opponents in Saturday's friendly and Poyet was glad his side were given a thorough workout. "There are teams in our league who have Premiership players and can keep the ball," he added. "We decided to press against Cordoba. We looked to get the ball back as soon as we could. "A few times it worked and a few times they went through us and we had to get back quickly and into shape. We had to find different solutions."
