Cumbrians trialists earn reprieve

Carlisle trialists Alessio Bugno and Dale Hopson have been handed an extra week to persuade manager Greg Abbott they make the grade.

The pair have featured in all five of the Cumbrians' pre-season friendlies to date. "We've seen some good things from Dale and he is slightly different to what we already have here," Abbott told the club's official website. "He's played some good football and he's one we want to spend a little bit longer with. "Alessio impressed everybody on Friday night with his performance and he has been really steady all the way through pre-season. He's fit and full of energy and determination and he's been a pleasure to work with. "Both Dale and Alessio will stay with us this week and they should play some part in our game against Middlesbrough on Friday night. We can look at things again with both of them after that."
