Defender happy to remain in Brazil

One of South America's top prospects Dede has revealed he is not looking for a move to Europe, despite reported interest from Premier League champions Manchester City. Vasco da Gama's 23-year-old defender is being tipped to be the cornerstone of Brazil's back line at the 2014 World Cup. Dede, who is known for his aerial strength and tackling ability, has been linked with a number of Europe's elite clubs in recent months. The centre-back is understood to be a target for Serie A giants AC Milan but there has been no bid yet, according to the club's president Roberto Dinamite. "I would like to stay (at Vasco) as long as possible so that I can be close to my family," Dede told Extra Online. And when asked if he felt he is ready to play in Europe, he said: "I am ready to mark European strikers, but it would be even better if I could do so playing for Vasco."
