Nigeria international flattered by English interest

Club Brugge striker Joseph Akpala claims to have received no contact from England, but admits he would welcome a shot at the Premier League. The Nigeria international is reported to be attracting interest from West Brom as they look to bolster their firepower. Newly-promoted West Ham are also said to be keen, with Sam Allardyce attempting to piece together a squad that is capable of competing at the highest level. Akpala is aware of the speculation and claims to be flattered by it. He has made it clear that no official approach has been made as yet, but the 25-year-old has refused to rule out the prospect of making a summer switch.

Contract

"I would love to play in the Premier League one day and score goals there week in, week out," said Akpala. "I am happy to be linked with clubs in the Premier League, but nothing has been discussed as yet. "Brugges want to keep me and I have a contract with them. We will have to see what happens. "West Ham are a London club and I like London, so you never know."
