Midfielder Ian Black will leave Hearts in the summer after the SPL side refused to offer him a new deal.
The 27-year-old, out of contract at the end of the season, is the latest victim of the Edinburgh club's cost-cutting drive.
Owner Vladimir Romanov decided against taking up the option to re-sign Black, who joined from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2009.
But the former Scotland B international, who has made 27 league appearances this season, insists there are no hard feelings.
"I understand the club's position and, while it is unfortunate they won't be extending my contract due to the fact they plan to operate with a smaller squad next season, I hope I can further my career," he told the club's official website.
"Coming to Tynecastle was a good move for me and it was a dream to sign for the club I have supported since childhood.
"There are some massive games for me to focus on between now and the end of the season and that is my priority.
"I will be giving 100 per cent over the next few weeks to try to ensure we finish this campaign as successfully as we possibly can."
