Phil Jevons has parted company with Morecambe in order to find a new team after agreeing to cancel his contract with the club.
The 32-year-old striker has agreed a deal with the Shrimps that he should pursue first-team football elsewhere.
Morecambe boss Jim Bentley told the club's official website: "I told Phil that he would not be in the plans for next season and would not be involved much before the end of this year.
"This deal will hopefully give him the chance to get himself sorted with a new club as soon he can.
"Phil is a great lad and has been a terrific professional. He has been a fantastic player for us and has scored some vital goals.
"He really does leave with our best wishes and I hope he gets a deal as soon as possible."
