Fraser Forster: Neil Lennon keen to make the goalkeeper a regular feature at Celtic Park
Celtic manager Neil Lennon is eager to extend goalkeeper Fraser Forster's stay at the club and believes he warrants an England call-up.
The 23-year-old is currently on his second loan spell at the club from Newcastle and has taken the Scottish Premier League by storm.
Forster has now made 58 appearances for Celtic and Lennon wants to make his move permanent.
Lennon has been so impressed with the goalkeeper's performances that he believes Forster deserves a chance in the England team, while admitting a deal to secure his future is left in the hands of other people.
"We have had communication with his agent, I've had a chat with Fraser this morning and we hope we can get something sorted out in the near future," he said.
Progress
"You are never confident on these things but we have made our approach and
told him how we see things and that we want him here.
"It is basically down to his agent, himself and Peter Lawwell to get a contract resolved."
Forster is yet to make his international bow but his Celtic boss believes that he deserves a chance, even though he admits Manchester City's Joe Hart is leading the way in terms of English keepers.
"Well, why not? I look at some of the other goalkeepers who have been involved in the England squad," Lennon added.
"I think Joe Hart is outstanding, I think he is clearly the England number one but the way Fraser is progressing.
"I wouldn't want to throw him in too early, but the way he is playing, why not?"
