Andy Thorn: Coventry City manager is looking for goals to win games

Coventry City manager Andy Thorn is looking to bolster his strike force when the loan window re-opens on Wednesday.

Lukas Jutkiewicz scored nine goals for Thorn's side this season but his transfer to Middleborough in the January window caused a blow for Coventry.

Alex Nimely, a loanee from Manchester City, came in to replace Jutkiewicz and, with Cody McDonald just starting to return from injury, Thorn was left with only Clive Platt and Freddy Eastwood as alternative options.

However, with the loan window back open on Wednesday, Thorn has the opportunity to add strength to his squad and strikers are at the forefront of his mind despite admitting to some defensive frailties.

Goals

"I still want to get a couple of strikers on board because we need goals to win games and we don't have that much time to play with," he said.

"We're a little bit thin at the back just now and to be honest we've conceded a few goals that I wouldn't expect us to in recent games."

The Sky Blues are currently hampered by injuries to defenders Hermann Hreidarsson, Cyrus Christie, Nathan Cameron and Chris Hussey.

Thorn's side have won only five of their 29 Championship outings this campaign and sit bottom of the league with just 22 points.
