Midfielder signs new two-year deal at Sunderland

Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback has been rewarded for his fine recent form with a new deal that keeps him at the Stadium of Light until 2014. Colback's existing contract had been set to expire at the end of this season but he has now been handed a two-year extension by manager Martin O'Neill. Having progressed through the youth ranks with the Black Cats, Colback has started to establish himself as a key member of the side in recent times. Colback has performed especially well since O'Neill took charge to help Sunderland move away from trouble in the Premier league. In total he has represented Sunderland 34 times at senior level and scored his first goal for the club in the 1-1 draw with Everton on Boxing Day. Earlier in his professional career, the 22-year-old took in two loan spells at Ipswich.
