Thomas Bendiksen has performed a U-turn over his Rangers future after deciding to return to hometown club Tromso.
The Norwegian was at the beginning of December in talks over a new contract at Ibrox, but has turned down what he has described as a 'very good' offer.
Bendiksen, who joined Rangers in 2007, but suffered a serious knee injury shortly after signing from Harstad, has instead opted to accept a three-year deal at Tromso.
And the ambitions of Tromso ahead of their Europa League participation next season after finishing second in their domestic league played a part in the midfielder's decision.
"I had a very good contract offer from Rangers, but I refused it," Bendiksen is quoted as saying by STV.
"Tromso is a good club and it aims to be even better.
"I aim to play my way to a permanent place in the team and look forward to an exciting season, both at home and not least in the Europa League."
