Argentine playmaker insists he is happy at Benfica

Benfica playmaker Nicolas Gaitan insists he is calm about rumours that he is a target for Premier League champions Manchester United. Gaitan impressed against United during the two clubs' UEFA Champions League group meetings earlier this season and his agent claimed last week that talks had been held regarding a possible deal. Reports in Portugal have also suggested that a fee of €35million (£29.3m) has been agreed, although United are understood to have distanced themselves from speculation they hold an interest in the Argentine. The 23-year-old is untroubled by the rumours surrounding his future and is adamant that he is happy at Benfica if no transfer materialises.

Comfortable

"The interest of big clubs is not affecting my head," Gaitan told O Jogo. "I am calm about the rumours about Manchester United. "It is certain and obvious that some clubs are interested in me and that signifies that I am doing well, but now my mission is to work and help Benfica to be successful. "I am not desperate to be sold. I am very comfortable in Benfica because we are an excellent team and the people are happy with me. "My future? I do not want any pressure and I wait for news. "If, eventually, no concrete offers appear, it's not a problem."
