Hamilton have completed the signing of Jim Goodwin after he was released from Huddersfield.
The former Stockport and Scunthorpe star was released by The Terriers on transfer deadline day.
The 28-year-old, who began his career at Celtic, had spent part of last season on loan at Oldham before returning to the Galpharm.
The SPL outfit have moved quickly to snap up the versatile player - who can play in defence or midfield and has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at all levels.
Accies manager Billy Reid said: "I have been tracking Jim for a while and I'm delighted to add him to the squad. He gives us more strength."
Goodwin is set to be officially unveiled at a press conference later in the week.
