Bairns boss believe captain could reject SPL options

Falkirk boss Eddie May believes captain Darren Barr may snub approaches from Aberdeen and Hibs in order to play in England. The 24-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with two of The Bairns' SPL rivals. The duo are battling it out to secure Barr on a pre-contract ahead of sealing his services on a free transfer in the summer. However, May thinks Barr might see out his deal with Falkirk before joining an English side at the end of the season. "Darren has always said he wants to play in England and I don't think that has changed," explained May.

See out deal

"I hope we can keep him until the end of the season as I think he is happy to see out his contract with us." Despite May's claims, Dons boss Mark McGhee remains keen on bringing Barr to Pittodrie in the summer. McGhee has reiterated the club's kitty is dry and that agreeing a pre-contract would be their best option. "We don't have any money to offer for a fee so it would be difficult to get Barr now," explained McGhee. "I don't think there is anything on as far as a swap is concerned but we might be prepared to loan them someone to help them out. "It may be that we could sort something out but we definitely want to talk to him about coming in the summer."
