Guinea ace leaves France

St Etienne have confirmed the transfer of Pascal Feindouno to Qatar-based side Al-Saad. The Guinea international has signed a three-year contract with the Middle East outfit after his protracted transfer was finally pushed through. Confusion had reigned as the future of the African ace after he claimed a deal had been struck and his French employers denied that was the case. St Etienne were also negotiating the sale of defender Nivaldo Santana to Al-Saad and been hoping to raise the stakes due to a clause in Feindouno's contract which stipulated 50 per cent of any future sale must be handed to his former club Bordeaux. However, a compromise has now been reached, with a deal for the duo believed to have been agreed for around 8million euros (£6.3m), and St Etienne co-chairman Bernard Caiazzo revealed there was nothing more he could do to prevent the move going through.

Promises

"The Qatar officials have done a good job, with promises of incredible wages and an unusual fee for Feindouno's agent," Caiazzo told the club's official website. "For two months they did nothing but try and convince Pascal to join them, with the help of his agent. "St Etienne would never have released the great Feindouno, a man that is capable of winning a game on his own. "However, each time I met with him during the last few weeks he talked about money. "How can he expect St Etienne to pay the same wages as they do in Qatar? Pascal was not the same man anymore."
