Three of Switzerland's squad have announced their retirement from international football in the wake of the country's first round exit in Portugal.
Captain and goalkeeper Jorg Stiel heads the trio with veteran forward Stephane Chapuisat and midfield man Fabio Celestini (pictured) also making themselves unavailable for selection in the future.
The Swiss can still look forward with optimism as Johann Vonlanthen became the youngest ever scorer in the European Championship with his equaliser against France.
Stiel, at 36, was the oldest player in Euro 2004 while Chapuisat previously retired from international football only to reverse his decision.
"It has been a very good experience for the younger players," explained coach Kobi Kuhn. "And we will be much stronger from it for 2008.
"Our greatest difficulties have been in scoring goals, but you must remember that we had injuries that deprived us of players before the tournament began."
The loss of talented forward Marco Streller before the tournament got underway was a major blow for Kuhn.
