Polish star Adrian Miedzinski has turned down a move back to his parent club Swindon Robins, and is in talks with another Elite League club.
Miedzinki has now raced in England since turning out for Oxford Cheetahs in 2007 and he would return on an average of less than 6 - which is sure to appeal to a number of clubs.
Miedzinski has told Swindon that as he has to practice on a Friday in Poland, so riding for a Thursday night-track would be an issue.
With King's Lynn already full, that would mean the other club he is talking to is likely to be Belle Vue or Poole.
But Swindon now say they would like to sell him rather than loan him, team boss Alun Rossiter told the Swindon Advertiser: "Adrian would have been a great signing for us because he would have had a great chance to improve on his average by a fair amount.
"We offered him a place and he showed some initial interest, but he said he it would be a problem because he has to practice in Poland on Fridays. He has since told us he wants to join another club in the Elite League, though.
"In normal circumstances, we would have been happy to loan him out like everybody else does, but the potential for him to raise his average is so great that we would not see any benefit from doing that.
"Swindon Robins will not gain anything from him pushing his average up elsewhere, so the best thing to do would be to sell him.
"We are not going to kick up a fuss, though. We only want riders who want to be here and I am happy with the side we have put together so far. We wish him all the best and there are no hard feelings."
Alden
Meanwhile, one rider who is returning to Swindon is Swede Seb Alden - who will double up with Premier League side Berwick Bandits.
Rossiter said: "Seb is a better and more mature rider than he was in his previous spells here, and I'm very comfortable about bringing him back.
"He had a very good season in 2011 and did well for Berwick, and we feel he is very much the best option available to us on that average.
"Seb is aware that Jason starts off in pole position for that team place, and it's up to him to impress us and force his way in - but, of course, there will be a few fixture clashes where Jason can't ride anyway and it's good that we have a more than capable option to share that spot."
