There has been plenty of action to keep us occupied in the world of sport over the last seven days.

Bad week

England rugby league
England were expected to lay down the gauntlet to Australia on Saturday by putting rugby league minnows Italy to the sword in Saturday's friendly at the City of Salford Stadium. However, the script did not go to plan for Steve McNamara's troops. With Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens watching in the stands, England had the perfect opportunity to give him plenty of food for thought. England did outscore Italy by three tries to two, scores coming from Sam Tomkins (2) and Carl Ablett, but missed conversions proved costly. The hosts led 14-12 at the break, but Raymond Nasso's 71st minute penalty levelled the scores before Josh Mantellato's last-gasp drop-goal secured a famous victory for the Azzurri.
David Moyes
Managing the Red Devils should be easy right? You have the likes of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic, Michael Carrick and David de Gea at your fingertips and a winning mentality already ingrained in the playing staff. However, Moyes would testify to the contrary. This time last year Sir Alex Ferguson's men were flying high in the Premier League. It's quite a different story 12 months on with the former Everton manager at the helm. On Saturday, United dropped yet more points, conceding a late levelled at home to Southampton courtesy of Adam Lallana's strike. The draw means they have claimed just 11 points from eight league outings, ensuring the pressure is firmly on Moyes to turn the flagging ship around.
Peyton Manning
To be fair to the Denver Broncos hero he didn't have a bad game against former club the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, but he did end up on the losing team. The veteran quarterback, who has been in blistering form for the Broncos this season, was back at the club where he made his name and he would have been desperate to secure the victory. He had three touchdown passes and threw for 386 yards, although he did get picked off once. Manning was released by Colts in March 2012 and the loss also snapped Denver's incredible 17-game regular season win streak. The 37-year-old spent 13 seasons with Indianapolis from 1998 and holds virtually every record going for the franchise.
Harlequins
Harlequins find themselves with a huge mountain to climb in Pool 4 in the Heineken Cup following back-to-back defeats to open this year's tournament. However, in Clermont Auvergne they came up against an opposition who rarely lose on home soil. The Top 14 club entered the game unbeaten in 64 games at home, an imposing stat to say the least. Quins gave a good account of themselves, but were ultimately undone courtesy of first-half tries from Lee Byrne, Wesley Fofana and Thierry Lacrampe. The visitors did claim a last-gasp losing bonus point thanks to Nick Evans' drop-goal, but the result means they are bottom of their group.
