Mexico winger Andres Guardado has said he wants to take advantage of his opportunity at new club Bayer Leverkusen.
The loan deal from Valencia will tie the 27-year-old to the club until the end of the season.
The Mexico international has made 99 appearances for the his country and feels this move will enhance his case to be included in the squad for the World Cup in Brazil.
Guardado told Mexican news agency Notimex: "The offer from Bayer was a great opportunity for me to start something new.
"The Bundesliga has a fantastic reputation in Spain. It's something special to arrive to this great European league after playing in the Spanish Liga.
"Bayer is a great German team and with a strong presence in the Champions League. I am very happy with this transfer."
