Aaron Ramsey has been replaced as Wales captain by Ashley Williams for this month's World Cup qualifiers.
Swansea centre-half Williams will lead the side into Group A games against Scotland and Croatia after Chris Coleman decided on a change of leadership.
Arsenal midfielder Ramsey was made skipper by the late Gary Speed, but Wales have lost all five games since Coleman was announced as Speed's successor and sit bottom of their qualifying group after two defeats.
Craig Bellamy, who has been in regular action for Cardiff in recent weeks after overcoming a calf injury, is a surprise omission from the 21-man squad.
And Coleman is also without goalkeeper Boaz Myhill, who needs surgery on a thumb injury.
James Collins, who was sent off in the opening qualifier against Belgium and is facing the prospects of an extended ban, is also left out.
