Argentinian coach eyes comeback

Former Mexico manager Ricardo La Volpe has revealed he would love a return to his old job. The 58-year-old tactician coached Mexico between 2002 and 2006 and has been linked with the vacant post following the departure of Javier Aguirre. El Tri reached the second round of the World Cup this summer, but fell to South American rivals Argentina. It was the same fate four years ago for La Volpe's side in Germany, and in 2005 Mexico reached the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup. Now the Argentinian coach has revealed he wants to return. "It would be an honour to coach Mexico again," he told Mexican sports daily Record. "Pride for every coach is to get to the top. And coaching a national team is the top, there's no doubt. I have the ability, I don't doubt that." La Volpe, a former World Cup winner as a player in 1978, has coached eight Mexican club teams and ended his career in the country.
