Honduras midfielder thanks heavens for opportunity

Honduras midfielder Jerry Palacios has spoke of his pride at becoming the third member of his family to travel to the World Cup this summer. Palacios followed brothers Johnny and Tottenham midfielder Wilson to the tournament as a replacement for the injured Julio Cesar de Leon, who withdrew due to a leg problem. The 28-year-old, who plies his trade in China with Super League club Hangzhou Nabel Greentown, described the opportunity as 'a dream' and a 'blessing to be here with my brothers'. Palacios immediately trained with the full squad upon his arrival on Friday, with his arrival breaking the record of siblings in the same tournament, where only two brothers had previously been in the same squad. Whether Palacios will go straight into the side that will face Spain in Group H is yet to be seen, but the player was just thankful to be where he was. "I didn't expect it," he said. "I only give thanks to God, and at the same time I feel bad that 'Rambo' (De Leon) got injured and I hope that he recovers as soon as possible."
