Former Celtic player Shunsuke Nakamura is still unsure of his role for Japan at the World Cup.
The 32-year-old came on as a second-half substitute in Friday's warm-up game against Ivory Coast.
Japan crashed to a 2-0 defeat in that match which may well have ended Didier Drogba's participation in the tournament.
The Ivory Coast striker looks almost certain to miss out through injury, while Nakamura's future is still unknown.
He has been switched to different positions throughout his substitute role in training and admits he still does not know what his role will be.
"I am not thinking about whether I'll make the first team or whether I'll play all matches," he told Japan newspaper Daily Sports.
"I'll do whatever I can do for Japan to win."
Japan have lost their last four internationals to Serbia, South Korea, England and, more recently, Ivory Coast.
They face Cameroon in their opening Group game in Bloemfontein on 14th June, with matches against Holland and Denmark soon after.
