FA leave any decision regarding England skipper to national coach

The Football Association have announced that any decision regarding the future of John Terry rests in the hands of Fabio Capello. The Chelsea skipper has seen his position as England captain, and even his place in the national squad, placed under threat after revelations about his private life were reported in the media over the weekend. The centre-half has seen his standing as an influential figure for club and country called into question, with many bystanders of the belief that he should be removed of all responsibility. Chelsea, though, have vowed to stand by the 29-year-old and threw him back into the public eye at Burnley on Saturday - and watched him score a late winner in a 2-1 success at Turf Moor. England have yet to make their stance public, with the FA keen to leave the matter in the hands of Capello.

Experience

The national coach is due back in the country later this week, before travelling to Warsaw for the Euro 2012 qualifying draw. He is expected to discuss the matter before heading off to Poland, with the Italian keen to prevent the issue from interfering with his World Cup plans. "Fabio is fully up to speed with developments regarding John Terry," read a statement on the FA's official website. "He spoke with our chairman Lord Triesman and chief executive Ian Watmore today (Monday), who both backed him to make the best decision for England on footballing grounds. "Fabio is dealing with the matter in his own way using his extensive experience as a football manger."
